WALKS AND HIKES

Whether you’re a hiker or a Sunday afternoon walker, the beauty of the landscapes, the diversity of the flora and fauna of Champéry, nestled between the Dents du Midi mountain range and that of the Dents Blanches, is perfect for all kinds of discoveries on foot.

Educational walks, miles of marked trails through the forest, along the river banks or around the peaks and more than 800km of hiking routes in Portes du Soleil will satisfy the desires of all lovers of nature and sports.

The chemin des poussettes between Champéry and Grand Paradis, the scenic walk from Galeries Défago, the water route along the Vièze, the oratory circuit, discovery of the smugglers’ trail in the bucolic setting of the Barme plateau and the Portes du Soleil are accessible to all.

The Dents Blanches, the Massif du Ruan and the Dents-du Midi are both a playground for climbers and home to a maze of marked routes for experienced hikers.

We invite you to come and discover our magnificent natural heritage and discover our lakes, our pastures and the chance to relax in one of the many mountain cafeterias along the way.

MOUNTAIN BIKES

The Portes du Soleil resort is perfect for mountain biking with its 1000km of marked routes.

For long sports rides or family rides, the 24 mechanical lifts equipped for the transport of mountain bikes allow everyone to enjoy themselves with one package for all the resorts within Portes du Soleil!

Freeriding enthusiasts will find everything they need to indulge in their passion with 50 permanent downward slopes, 5 bike parks, trial and cross-country circuits. The less brave will be content to discover walks through the forest or trails through mountain pastures.

ELECTRIC BIKES

Electric mountain biking is a new activity offered by the resorts of Champéry, Morgins and Torgon allowing guests to cover more ground without having to experience changes in elevation.

Routes have been developed linking these areas and different routes on each site. Battery exchange points are located along the routes to ensure your independence.

MULTIPASS

The *Portes du Soleil” Multipass is a card that allows you to enjoy a mountain of free activities in all 12 resorts within Portes du Soleil and to benefit from the facilities to make your skiing more enjoyable for just CHF 1,50 per day of your holiday (minimum 2 days); you can also benefit from significant discounts from our partner providers.

A 1-day Multipass can be purchased for CHF 9.-

The Multipass is free for children under 5.

VIA FERRATA DE TIERE

A combination of hiking and mountaineering, the La Via Ferrata de Champéry is aimed at adults and children taller than 1m 40cm. Access is facilitated by rungs in the rock, a harness and a cable permanently attached to users. At three points, it overlaps with the waterfalls thanks to walkways. With a length of 460 metres with an elevation of 125 metres and an angle of 75 degrees from the rock wall, the Via Ferrata de Tière qualifies as easy on the scale of difficulty. It starts at the Sous-Scex bridge 900 metres above sea level and ends in Rives 1126 metres above sea level.

Although the practice of Via Ferrata is not very difficult, it requires preparation, suitable equipment and supervision if you are a beginner. Supervised Via Ferrata activities are organised in collaboration with Compagnie des guides in Champéry: http://www.guides-champery.ch

ACCROBRANCHE DU DAHU

Accrobranche du Dahu is an adventure park built between the trees at the entrance to galeries Défago. Zip lines, rope bridges, Tarzan swings and climbing nets are all on offer. Enjoyment guaranteed.

In addition, a course for small children is free but adult supervision is mandatory.

DOWNHILL SCOOTERS

Trott en Stock offers new adventures for the thrill of trying a downhill all-terrain scooter. At the heart of Portes du Soleil, several routes are available to you whether you are a sports enthusiast or simply want to relax with your friends or family.

THERMAL BATHS

Four kilometers from Hotel des Alpes you’ll find the Thermal Baths Park of Val d’Illiez.  Its waters are rich in magnesium, sulfide and calcium. Recommended for the cure of skin problems, rheumatism and cardio diseases. The installations also offers Jacuzzis, sauna, hamman, swimming pools and relax zones.

During the winter season only ponies are at your kid’s disposal. In summer ponies and horses are available for individual or group field trips.

FARM VISIT

Explore the farm by slipping into the shoes of a Swiss farmer while performing the daily tasks of farmers in our mountains is a real authentic experience. Equipped with overalls and boots you will help to milk the cows and feed the animals. If you’re lucky you might even get to assist at a birth!

You will also be able to taste local products produced by the farmers.

COW’S BELL FOUNDRY

In Champéry you can still find one of the remaining craft bell foundry in Switzerland. Mr. Jean-Denis Perrin and his son Hugues perpetuate the tradition that has been alive for nine generations. Alongside with a professional pilot you’ll be able to experience the unforgettable sensation of overflying Champéry in summer or winter.

FISHING

Line Fishing

Indulge in the pleasures of river fishing in the peaceful atmosphere on the banks of the Vièze, downstream of the Pont des Moulins in Champéry or in the bucolic scenery of our mountains on the shores of Lac Vert, Lac d’Antème or Lac de Salanfe.

River fishing is prohibited on Tuesdays and Fridays and requires a permit, which can be purchased from the Champéry Tourism Office; daily and weekend rates are available. www.champéry.ch

Fish breeding

In a small patch of green on the edge of the forest 1.5 km from Champéry, chalet Rosalie invites you to fish for trout in the ponds for the price of CHF 24 -/kg of fish hooked.

If you wish to and provided you book in advance, Sabine will cook your fish for you at the refreshment outlet.

Equipment, rods and bait are available on site.

CLIMBING

Outdoor climbing wall in the village

You can try your climbing skills out on a free-to-access outdoor climbing wall located close to Champéry station and cable car.

Barme

High above Champéry, 1492 meters above sea level, in the rural landscape of the plateau of Barme stands a limestone cliff 40 metres high, with north-east exposure, developed for climbing. This exceptional site boasts 47 walls over 5 areas according to difficulty; the equipment used here is very safe.  This place, designed more for pleasure than performance, will delight you with its diversity for both beginners and experienced climbers.
